Membership Requirements
The Junior League of Kalamazoo has a set of requirements for all women in our organization. For Provisional, Active, Preferred Active and Sustaining Members, we have requirements that must be completed in order to maintain each standing.
New Member (Provisional) Requirements
- Possess an interest in voluntarism and commitment to community service and an interest in developing the potential of women.
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Pay New Member dues of $95.00.
- Attend New Member and General Membership Meetings.
- Complete one scheduled Done-in-a-Day activity.
- Fulfill all New Member requirements as determined by the Board of Directors.
- Become a member of the Pretty Lake Vacation Camp Volunteers Committee upon obtaining Active status and fulfill all of the requirements thereof.
Active Member Requirements
- Complete a Provisional training course
- Pay annual dues of $95.00
- Participate in an interview with your Placement Advisor
- Sign the Junior League of Kalamazoo Service Agreement and adhere to the requirements therein, including:
- Attend General Membership Meetings.
- Fulfill a placement as defined by the Procedures.
- Complete one scheduled Done-in-a-Day activity.
Preferred Active Requirements
This is a category of Active membership that is available to Active members in good standing who have completed at least five years of Active service. Written requests for this status change must be submitted to the Corresponding Secretary by March 1 and must be accepted by a two-thirds vote of the Board of Directors.
A Preferred Active member must meet all of the requirements of Active membership but is exempt from the Festival of Trees and Done-in-a-Day requirements.
Sustaining Member Requirements
An Active member in good standing who has completed at least five years of Active service shall, upon written request to the Corresponding Secretary by March 1 and acceptance by a two-thirds vote of the Board of Directors, be granted Sustaining membership. Annual dues for Sustaining Members are $72.00.
